Influencing Perceptions of Security

LEV is a Dutch Research Foundation, specialized in (applied) research on public perceptions of security and the way they can be influenced. Fear of crime, risk perception and for instance societal impact of terrorism are amongst the subjects of study.

The aim of LEV is to help public policymakers understand and - if necessary and possible - improve public perceptions of (in)security.

In recent years, LEV was employed by - among others) the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice, Dutch local governments (large and small) and by the Dutch National Police Force.

LEV's work is considered pragmatic ánd well founded in the scientific state of the art at the same time. A LEV project for instance was awarded the prize for Best Policy Research of 2011-2012 by the Dutch Association of Policy Research and the Dutch Sociological Association.
